Event Description:
Is your business affected by the current opioid crisis here in Schuylkill County?  Do you know all the ways this crisis can impact your bottom line?  Do you know where to go or how to access help for you and your employees?

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) notes that substance use disorders impact absenteeism and presenteeism (inattention at work), health care expenses, disability and worker’s compensation, and increased taxes to pay for law enforcement, criminal justice and public-supported medical treatment.  The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) found that opioid addiction costs employers approximately $10 billion from absenteeism and presenteeism alone.

Clinical Outcomes Group, Inc. (www.coginc.org) is pleased to invite members of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce to “The Effects of the Opioid Crisis on Schuylkill County Employers:  Education, Information and Strategies to Improve the Bottom Line”.  Dr. John Stefovic, COGI’s Medical Director will present current data on opioid use and overdose rates, recognizing signs of addiction and demonstrate how to administer Naloxone/ Narcan to an individual experiencing an opioid crisis.  All attendees will receive a Narcan kit at the end of the presentation.  Narcan kits are provided by the Schuylkill County Drug and Alcohol program.  Resources for employers to measure the impact of the opioid crisis on their business and workforce will also be provided, along with reliable sources of assistance.
