Job Description
Title: Deli Manager Full Time
FLSA: Non-exempt (hourly rate; eligible for overtime)
Reports to: Store Manager
Summary:
Primary emphasis in this position is in managing all aspects of the Deli Department by assuring excellent customer service
and assisting in the daily operations. Primary duties include assuring Deli/Food Service Clerks are pleasant and efficient
when having contact with, servicing or in the presence of customers, filling and rotating cases, cleaning and sanitation within
the department, and providing management assistance, primarily in monitoring the department operations and delegation
of assignments. This position is responsible for providing effective training, development and work direction for department
teammates and requires ability to encourage individual and group support towards department objectives. Position will
continually develop skills in ordering, invoicing, scheduling, merchandising, P&L, gross profit, expense controls and record
keeping. Position function also requires the ability to drive sales. Position hours will vary with the needs of the business.
Assignments and work direction will be provided by Store Manager, Deli Merchandiser, or the person in charge.
Essential Functions:
 Follow all Red Shirt Service guidelines at all times and assure team is as well
 Greet each customer as they approach the Deli counter
 Process each customer order properly
 Promote product through selling sessions
 Follows proper receiving procedures and credit/shortage/damage policies
 Answer questions, assists customers with special requests, and provide any assistance necessary
 Assure Deli Clerks are pleasant and accurate at all times
 Assist customers with specific requests
 Assure all sanitation and food safety processes and guidelines are in place and being followed at all times
 Monitor operations to assure proper service level and operational procedures are being followed
 Prioritize and delegate assignments to teammates and follow up to Assure completion
 Perform product and supply ordering to meet business needs and inventory level guidelines
 Process all department paper work in a timely manner
 Utilize department tablets to communicate, process requested paperwork and informational requests
 Complete department inventories accurately and per corporate schedule
 Monitor daily and weekly reports
 Attend department manager meetings, sales meetings and huddle ups
 Keep good records of orders, pre-books and product movement
 Monitor and understand daily/weekly movement of products to write good orders and create daily production needs
 Monitor department cleaning and sanitation program to assure 100% compliance at all times
 Assure all code dating guidelines are followed and remove all out date product or product unfit for sale
Set and fill case, side wall, displays, and warming/hot food areas as per instructions and corporate standards
 Manage daily production and usage of daily production logs to maximize product sales and control shrink
 Assure proper recipe usage and portion control of all products to meet quality standards
 Perform personnel functions of the Deli department in conjunction with store management
 Provides feedback to store management on teammate performance
 Recommends and assists in administering teammate disciplinary action
 Communicate and work with store management at all times
 Assure clear communication of all new departmental policies and procedures to all department teammates
 Implementation of all corporate merchandising plans to maximize sales and gross profit dollars
 Responsible for department achieving all financial goals; including sales, gross profit, payroll, supplies (Contribution to
Overhead – CTO)
 Follows all store and department policies as stated in Teammate Personnel handbook and any other manuals which
may be provided to you
 Perform additional duties as assigned by store or corporate management
