City Administrator

The City of Pottsville announces that it has begun a comprehensive search for a new City Administrator. “We are at a transition point in Pottsville,” said Mayor Tom Smith. “We are looking for someone with a real bias for action who understands how to build consensus across viewpoints, and has a professional track record of ethics and integrity. This person should also possess the skills, experiences, and/or familiarity with the culture of a working class municipality like Pottsville and Schuylkill County, which has a strong industrial heritage.”

The City has engaged the services of Templeton Advantage, LLC to ensure a thorough and efficient process, who has completed a series of executive searches for the Pottsville Area School District, Blue Mountain School District, and Intermediate Unit #29.

“We are excited about the future of Pottsville. The City Administrator will be a crucial piece of our efforts to revitalize the city, and will provide professional, non-political leadership that modernizes municipal operations, restores confidence in city governance, drives responsible economic development, and delivery efficient public services for the long-term benefit of residents and businesses,” Smith added.

Pottsville is a third class city established in 1911 and the county seat of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The population was 13,346 at the 2020 census. The city lies along the west bank of the Schuylkill River in Pennsylvania’s coal region.
